Jammie Thomas of Brainerd, Minn., left, was sued $9,250 US for each of 24 songs in a Recording Industry Association of America lawsuit.
In a bizzare interpretation of United States law rivalling the O.J. Simpson verdict in terms of sheer illogical idiocy in Duluth, Minnesota(a hotbed of illegal file sharing copywrite violation crimes) on October 4, 2007, the final day of her trial, U.S. District Court Judge Michael J. Davis and the jury charged Jammie Thomas, age 30, is a Native American woman from Brainerd, Minnesota. with $222,000 worth of damages, which came to $9,250 per song.
There was absolutely no evidence at all proving beyond a reasonable doubt that Jammie Thomas downloaded the 24 songs
that caused the $222,000 worth of damages to the recording moguls syndicate….

This is not going to be effective in the least. All they’ve done is to make a woman’s life miserable.
It’s such a big deal. You can get charged hundreds of thousands for one song/movie/etc. They’re just trying to deter everyone by putting up extravagant penalties yet they only catch a few per year. It’s a pretty useless system. Maybe those few they catch pay for the rest?
Thats crazy, but its not going to stop me from downloading hehe. I can’t believe that the courts would do that to someone they use them like a piece of meat trying to stop us from downloading when we’re going to download no matter what.
I always thought music was supposed to be the food of love.

The above 4-way split _ screen image says a lot about this evidence. Of what portion we _ can see of it, this object looks incredibly very much like an anatomically _ correct humanoid skull or perhaps a humanoid statue head sticking out of the ground staring sightlessly _ upward from its dark empty eye sockets and its general position suggests an unseen body_ laying on its back under the ground. Note the anatomically general size and shape, the forehead, the empty socket dark eye holes, the bone bridge between the eye holes, the nose projection, and the beginnings of one side of the mouth.
